Good afternoon, everyone! And happy Pride Month to everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community!
My name is Madi and I am just another person trying to live and exist in what has become a chaotic and uncertain world. Sadly, it is 2025 and we have a president and administration here in the US who are trying to move our country back into the late 1800’s. I guess you could say this blog is one form of resistance for me.
Let me say that I am no expert on politics, current events or much of anything else outside of my areas of extensive experience. Despite this, I have watched as members of my family have worked heavily in politics, in the military, education, health care and other fields. I consider myself a student of life and because of that, I feel that both blessed and cursed to know what I do and to be able to examine the world through a unique lens.
I should also add that I am a transgender woman trying to survive these chaotic times. I already know that a great deal of what I will write will focus on the impacts current administration policies and court rulings will have on my specifically, as well as the LGBTQIA+ community as a whole. Yes, I am biased towards my community…but I do try my best to be open minded when expressing my own views. I also think it is important to note that while yes, I am trans…I do not define my life and my world view around my being trans. I identify in many ways and all of those identities impact my world view.
My sister always told me I was an excellent writer, so I thought this blog could be one of my forms of resistance.
My hope is to share some meaningful insight and potential create respectful discussion and debate around what is happening in today’s world. Also, I welcome any input or thoughts…so feel free to contact me if you have questions or topic suggestions. I am more than happy to discuss these items in my posts.
With that, I want to wish all of my LGBTQIA+ family members a safe and happy Pride Month! We resist simply by existing. Let’s use this month to show everyone we are not going anywhere! ♥
